Subject: First Internet Conference on Alzheimer's Disease

"The First Internet Conference on Alzheimer's Disease

September
14-30, 1997

At http://www.alzforum.org

Co-organizers: Kieran
Breen, University of Dundee, June Kinoshita, Alzheimer Research
Forum. Publication: Neurobiology of Aging, Elsevier Science, Inc.

We invite you to participate in the First Internet Conference on
Alzheimer's Disease, to be held at the Alzheimer Research Forum web
site this September as the first in a series of biennial conferences.
Thanks to the speed of electronic communications and production, the
conference offers the most rapid avenue for presenting your newest
results to a global audience of your colleagues. Following the
meeting, the abstracts will be published in a special issue of the
Neurobiology of Aging.

As part of the conference, the Alzheimer
Research Forum is sponsoring a contest for the Best New Idea, to
stimulate innovative thinking about the possible causes and
pathophysiology of Alzheimer's disease. Interested parties should
submit an abstract to the New Ideas section. The abstract should cite
existing data in support of the new theory and specify how the theory
may be tested experimentally. Entries will be judged at the next
Internet Conference, two years from now, based on their success in
opening up new avenues of research and thinking in the field. The
winner will be awarded a $5,000 travel grant.

The Internet
Conference will make extensive use of live chat rooms, news groups
and even virtual hallways and pubs, providing ample opportunity to
meet and exchange ideas with your colleagues. It will be just like
attending a normal meeting--but without the hassle and expense of
booking flights, hotels and negotiating for time away from your home
and office. In other words, you have no excuse for not participating
and helping to make the Internet Conference a huge success!

To
submit an abstract, simply visit our Web site, fill out the
application (at
http://www.alzforum.org/members/misc/submit_abstract.html) and submit
it electronically by July 7, 1997. Upon acceptance of your abstract,
you will receive a full set of guidelines on how to generate and
submit your poster. The Alzheimer Research Forum's team of web
experts will transform your poster into a web page and link it to our
news group and live chat systems. We look forward to your
participation and attendance at the meeting.

Please feel free to
circulate this announcement among your colleagues.
