ITALZ aims at helping mainly caregivers and relatives. ITALZ would like to be a useful support for researchers, medical staff and students as well. Also ITALZ provides specific information useful mainly for people located in Italy.
Why this Web
ITALZ would like to be a reference point which facilitates contacts among relatives, caregivers, doctors, medicinal students and researchers. ITALZ would like to be a catalyst for the building of a self organized community. This community should be able to promote initiatives of help and support (for the families, scientific researchers, a better diffusion of information, etc ...). The first step in this direction is the creation of a Mailing list of links, contact points and electronic addresses.ITALZ would like:
- to be a freely accessible information point on Alzheimer Disease where all the available information in Italian on AD is gathered. Several Associations and support centers have produced valuable documents and information for Alzheimer patient's family members, caregivers and medical students;
- to set up an electronic archive and a press review on the topic;
- to create a map of the Italian centers and associations dealing with AD, describing the services and support they offer. Indeed often it is difficult to know where is the nearest specialized hospital or support center, which are the active associations in the area;
- to be a site where to find and to "publish" information on events (like meetings, conferences, workshops).
ITALZ would like to be a reference point where to send new initiatives,
information on associations, documents, references in order to be known
via Internet.

ITALZ has been developed and is based exclusively on volunteers' work. It will be useful only if supported by Alzheimer Community who should send up-to-date news, information and feedback (we invite everyone to collaborate by sending documents and relevant information).
During the coming weeks, we hope to complete and to keep updated the server in the part still under construction and to enlarge it with new services on the basis of the received feedback.
