Invitation
Invitation to Everybody with an Interest
in Alzheimer's Disease
1999 - intersection of the International
Year of Older Persons and the Decade of the Brain, cusp of the millennia,
falling within a period of major developments in the treatment of Alzheimer's
disease. What better time to attend an ADI Conference?
It is thus my pleasure to convey this
early invitation to you, on behalf of the Alzheimer's and Related Disorders
Association of South Africa, to attend the 15th International Conference
of Alzheimer's Disease International in Johannesburg during September 1999.
We plan making it a truly exciting opportunity for learning and exchanging
ideas, and for benefitting from the unique perspectives of Africa.
At this stage of the planning we intend
covering the following themes:
-
medical research and bioscience of dementia
-
popultion science of dementia: epidemiology,
screening, and family and community dynamics
-
caring models, in the family and at residences
-
councelling and support of next-of-kin
-
health and welfare economics and policy
and
-
human rights and legislation
The conference will hardly be the only
element of interest for the delegate to South Africa. We have no fear of
being branded boastful when stating that our ecology and wildlife are unique
and a pleasure to experience. The society and politics of our country are
a constant source of wonder and hope. We plan to make it possible for people
attending the conference to experience for themselves what it is that makes
South Africa exceptional.
Kindly demonstrate your early interest
in attending the conference by completing the form on the back of this
leaflet and returning or faxing it to us as soon as possible.
We look forward to welcoming you to
South Africa in the (southern) spring of 1999.
